Rising Icon - Adam

Adam Sherif

A Philly kid that loves turtle necks? Sounds about right. Adam is a young guy from Rowan University that definitely has a northeast street style. We talk about his interest with Puma's, why color coordination is so important, and some of his goal in the fashion industry, all in our conversation with Adam.

Where are you from? How old are you?

I am born and raised in Bayonne New Jersey. I currently live in Philadelphia. I am 19 years old and just getting started.

What are your interests/hobbies?

My main interests are fashion, sports, and the gym. Something most people don’t know about me is I actually love playing the game of chess, but fashion, sports, and gym are my favorite things and nothing can beat that except for food and sleep.

Current Occupation or school that you attend?

My current job right now is actually working at a gym called fusion gyms. The school that I currently attend is Rowan University, a great place to study.

How long have you been into fashion?

I’ve been into fashion for about 5 years now.

What got you into fashion?

When I was younger I never really knew how to dress up or put outfits together. Once I got a little older I started to pick up on lots of fashion trends and started to put little twists to them. Instagram had many people who were super fly so I looked at their outfits and tried to recreate my own.

How would you describe your sense of style?

I would describe my style as limitless.

How has living in Philly shaped your style and your fashion sense?

Living in my city most people wore the same clothes since it was a small place. So I had to make sure that I was different and didn’t look like anyone. I gave my fashion uniqueness so that no one can copy it. It always made me think about how to be different.

Where do you find your inspiration for your style? And what influences you the most?

I find my inspiration in myself. My style usually comes from me only. I want to make a name for myself to inspire others. What influences me is to just make my next outfit better than my last.

Who is your fashion spirit animal/who inspires you? And why? (artist, athlete, actor, etc.)

My fashion spirit animal is a puma. I feel very fierce and intimidating when I take my pictures. The only person that I really find dope would be Drake. He could pull off any outfit and it would like absolutely fire.

What are your favorite fashion pieces? (hats, belts, hoodies, etc.)

I love almost every fashion piece but my favorite ones that I focus on are the shoes and jewelry.

What are your favorite brands?

I have so many favorite brands, but my top 3 right now would be Almost Älways, Zara, and Fashionnova.

What current fashion trends are you loving right now?

I love how turtle necks are making there way back. Turtle necks are very underrated and can make an outfit pop. Also, I love the fanny pack only if one knows how to wear it right. It can make an outfit go from 0 to 100. I’m also loving the trench coat. It gives an outfit a fierce and classy look which is amazing.

Which ones are you hating?

I’m not really liking the baggy clothes. Some people know how to pull it off but many don’t. Another thing that I don’t like at all is the shirts with holes in them. I feel like many people are wearing them but it looks really bad. I also am not a big fan of overalls either at all. I just feel like it’s a really bad idea to wear.

The most important piece of an outfit is ____? Why?

The most important thing to an outfit to me is being color coordinated. If the outfit is not color coordinated it’s just a whole mess. You must start picking your outfit from the bottom, up and make sure everything matches or else the whole vibe of the outfit is just off. That’s the most important thing to me. When it all matches and flows it just looks really good and you feel really good.

Do you have a dream fashion piece? (a specific coat, belt, pants, etc.)

The new Givenchy trench coat.

What are your goals and aspirations with fashion? Where do you see yourself ending up?

My goal is to just keep making my outfits look good and creating lots of content. I want everyone to know who I am even though it’s just because of fashion. My main goal right now is to be signed to an agency. I do see myself in the future being the new face of many brands. I also want to help anyone out on how to make their outfit more stylish.
